Blecahcz's music was warmly embraced by new folks

On Feb.18, Rafał Blechacz performed the third recital in Tokyo at Tokyo Bunka-kaikan (cultural center).
The 2300 seats of the old and big hall in Tokyo were fully occupied.
Actually, the tickets have been sold out.

The recital was organized as a part of the series composed of five concerts,
including Zimerman’s piano concerto by Lutosławski with Chung Myung-Whun,
London Symphony Orchestra directed by Gergiev.

The profile of the audience was that they frequently come to this hall on regular basis
to enjoy a wide range of classical music and the majority are middle aged or over.
My observation was that overall, Blechacz's performance was warmly accepted by those
who attended his recital for the first time.

People looked upbeat after the recital.
I heard some voices of appreciation while walking on the lobby:

“It’s the difference of history. Japanese cannot play like him.”
“How you play Mozart makes difference", etc...

I was with my husband and he has highly evaluated Blechacz as precious musical asset.
My colleagues were supposed to be there but I could not find them because the hall is too big.

Blechacz will hold his fourth recital tomorrow at Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall.

....he is looking forward to the opportunity to deepen the ties with the audience there,
and hopes that the musical bonds will strengthen thier love of music.

This morning, I received an e-mail from my Polish friend Dana,
notifying that Blechacz's CD "sonatas" obtained the Platinum status in Poland in October
and he was nominated for Frederic Award 2009 again.

Congratulations, Rafał Blechacz!!
