Blechacz, excellent cook with seventh sense

Following fragment was written by Maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk (English) (Polish) for "Charaktery" ( Charakters ), Polish psychological monthly magazine,
titled "In search of tastes".
In the article, the conductor remembers Christmas Day in his childhood and then he compares art of cooking to music.

I received the article and links from Dana who put the Polish article into English after getting it from her friend Beata who found the article.

Let me thank the two ladies in Poland who really love music presented by Rafał Blechacz.

“....Many people cook but only a few have the seventh sense to hit upon an idea to coat vanilla ice cream with raspberry sauce with a one drop of rum, they give "something" to pickles so that we enjoy them.

The same we can say about taste of music. A good cooking of music develops better taste. A good cook of music will prepare a heavenly dish and a gourmet of music fully appreciates it.

And yet, although all similarities are between them, art leads us to a higher level. After a good dish you can lick your lips, you say even sometimes "a heaven in mouth" but here on the earth you can be in heaven just thanks to art.

On Christmas when my guests already go home I will be listening to recordings of Rafał Blechacz.

For me now he is a model of impeccable taste like Dinu Lipatti.  At once I noticed that his "diamond" way of playing is amazing but I needed some time to enchant the emotional clarity of his art. I will be enchanted ..."

Wiele podobnego mozna powiedziec o smaku muzycznym. Dobra kuchnia muzyczna wyrabia lepszy smak. Dobry kucharz muzyczny uwarzy niebianskie danie. A muzyczny smakosz w pelni to doceni.
A jednak, mimo wszystkich podobienstw, sztuka prowadzi nas wyzej.

Last year, Blechacz tounched upon a memory with Maestro Maksymiuk when interviewed by Gazeta Wyborcza (Polish).
