If Frederic Chopin had to pick the best interpreter of his music today, he would surely name this Polish pianist.

And it's no exaggeration. At age of 20 in 2005, Rafał Blechacz amazed the music world by winning in an unopposed manner the prestigious Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, plus all the special prizes of the contest. With just twenty-five years, Blechacz, a prodigy of virtuosity, naturalness and expressiveness, follows the trail of the great Polish pianists in history, way to go back to Landowska, Paderewski, Rubinstein and currently Zimerman. He raised Chopin prize emerging as the new star of the piano. But he knows how to measure his steps and despite being demanded by audiences and festivals all over the world, he is not lavish in his actions (40 concerts a year). And Cordón Cultural (Burgos) and Auditorio Nacional ( Madrid) are the only two events in Spain this season. The program, which cannot be otherwise, includes some of the finest compositions of Chopin, which are joined by Szymanowski (pure emotion and complexity), and Mozart and Debussy, which provide classical, style and perfection.

This website "1001 discs of classical music that you should listen to before you die" gives a briefing of the program in Madrid, titled, "Polish taste in the Cycle of the Great Interpreters", with links to videos of each piece on the agenda, so that the audience member can prep for the recital.
(Debussy L'isle joyeuse played by Horowitz, for example.)
