Beautiful Polish night at Salle Pleyel

Rafał Blechacz played Chopin's concerto in F minor with Sinfonia Varsovia directed by Grzegorz Nowak at Salle Pleyel, Paris, on November 11.

"Tonight at Salle Pleyel, Paris, Rafał played Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 with Sinfonia Varsovia under Grzegorz Nowak. After he finished (he played in the 1st part) he got a huge applause and a loud vocal expression of admiration. The ovation was going on and on until he played an encore. The shouting and clapping resumed afterwards and did not stop until he played another. For encores he chose Polonaise As-dur and Mazurka a-moll op. 17. Beautiful evening with Rafał and his music for all those present at Salle Pleyel!"

Report by PAP site about the concert.

(excerpt of interview with Blechacz and Nowak)
Immediately after the concert, Rafał Blechacz said in an interview with PAP, that before the concert at the prestigious Salle Pleyel, he didn’t get particularly nervous but rather very "excited". He explained that on the day of the concert he would concentrate solely on music, avoiding all other activities that might distract him, such as interviews for the media.

Grzegorz Nowak noted after the Friday's concert that "the orchestra was great, and Rafał proved to be excellent”. "I played with Rafał Blechacz for the first time and we had only one rehearsal just before the concert. Time was limited, but mutual understanding was gained immediately”, said Nowak.
