Salle Pleyel program page
The winner of the 2005 Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Rafał Blechacz, then twenty years old, deeply impressed both the jury and the public. Since then, he has confirmed that he knows how to find the right tone, lyricism without affectation, which suits works of Chopin. After recording it under the direction of Jerzy Semkow, he interpretes here the Concerto in F minor, along with the Sinfonia Varsovia conducted by Grzegorz Nowak. If the program assumes a certain national tone, in addition to Chopin, a rare page of Karol Szymanowski is also inscribed at the heart of Europe, a cosmopolitan Europe where art and music flow freely. Nourished by impressions from a trip to Italy - unavoidable destination for romantics – the fourth symphony by Mendelssohn, who at the same time resurrected the masterpieces of Bach, is one of the most perfect illustrations.
