Rafał Blechacz, the up-and-coming pianist

The young Polish pianist  Rafał Blechacz brings out a new disc with the Deutsche Grammophon label. This is a selection of solo piano pieces by Debussy and his compatriot Karol Szymanowski.

Blechacz plays these works with the authority which is overwhelming and disturbing, if we consider his youth. He has a neat way to structure the sounds of scores, acquiring classical resonances in his fingers. The influence of his obsessive working with compositions by Bach and Viennese classical composers can be seen.

It is amazing to hear these passages of Debussy and Szymanowski, interpreted with a youthful impetuosity, yet filled with an overwhelming poetic sensitivity.

Despite twenty-six years old, this young pianist has already garnered numerous successes such as five awards of the 15th International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition (2005) and the second prize in the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Competition.

He recorded his first album with the German label in 2008, with complete Preludes and Nocturne op.62 by Chopin, which was welcomed with enthusiasm by critics and the public.

Blechacz will offer concertos with la Orquesta Nacional de España, under the direction of Josep Pons at el Auditorio Nacional de Madrid on Feb. 3,4 and 5. (Beethoven Piano Concerto No.4)
