  3. I love Rafal's interpretations of Beethoven, Mozart, Debussy, Szymanowski..., but his Chopin is irreplaceable. It is worth everything!

  5. According to a Japanese classical music fan who is very knowledgeable of history of recordings, probably it will be the first recording of Chopin's Polonaises by DG in about 35 years since the one recorded by Lazar Berman (1977?) a few years after the Pollini's (1975), though there were several recordings in 50's, 60 and 70's.

My observation is that this photo of Rafał is quite popular among his fans. Especially ladies love it :))

And I envy you, Shizuka-san. Enjoy his recital!!

  6. Yep, I have a list of my wishes for Rafał's recordings and naturally it includes Polonaises and (complete) Mazurkas by Chopin. I received tremendous reactions to this picture of Polonaises album from Polish people inside and outside of Poland.

  9. That IS a very flattering shot(unlike the previous few)...I suppose you are getting positive feedback from female fans mainly because men don't notice things like that? Anyway, I was hoping he would release some classical/baroque but I suppose I could do with another polonaise album on top of Rubinstein.

  10. A male music fan - a heavy classical music "otaku" (maniac) said this picture is better with his sensitive hands accentuated, profiled on the background color than the way it is usually used for concert booklets. I'm a bit surprised by female fans' very "positive" reactions. I'm with you on your last point - waiting for his recording of classical/baroque at heart.
